Huntington Beach, California, is one of the most desirable places to live in the United States. With its stunning scenery and world-class amenities, this sunny beach city has something to offer everyone. For starters, Huntington Beach boasts six miles of white sandy beaches that provide endless opportunities for fun in the sun. You'll find it here whether you're looking for a place to splash around with your family or take a leisurely stroll on the shoreline with your partner. For those who prefer more active activities, surfing and paddleboarding are two popular options on virtually every beach in this coastal paradise.

Part A in Huntington Beach, CA

Living in Huntington Beach, California, can provide an excellent opportunity to enjoy the warm weather and take advantage of all the attractions this beach city offers. But along with these fun activities, it's important to remember that good health is critical. Medicare Part A coverage can help you get the medical care you need without breaking your budget.

Medicare Part A is a government-funded program for people over 65 or those under 65 who are disabled or have end-stage renal disease.

The program helps cover hospital stays, home health care visits from skilled nurses or therapists, hospice services (for those with a terminal illness), lab tests and X-rays taken at outpatient facilities, some durable medical equipment used in the home such as wheelchairs/walkers/canes and more.

The deductible amount for Medicare Part A in 2023 was $1600 per benefit period. This means that when you start a new hospital stay (called a benefit period), you'll be responsible for paying this deductible before your Part A plan will cover any costs.

Once you've paid the Part A deductible during each benefit period, there are no additional copays or coinsurance amounts until after 60 days have passed since the start of the benefit period.

After day 61, during each benefit period, beneficiary coinsurance payments are required:

  • $400 per day from days 61 through 90;
  • $800 per day for days 91 through 150 of an extended stay in a skilled nursing facility.
  • After 150 days, you'll pay all costs.

For Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF), Medicare covers the first 20 days (only if you were an inpatient in the hospital for three days), and then starting on the 21st day, you pay a copay.

In 2023 the copay was $200 per day for days 21-100. After 100 days, you'll pay all costs.

In general, understanding your deductibles and copays can help ensure that you know exactly how much money needs to come out of pocket if/when needing hospital treatment or long-term skilled care during an extended stay away from home due to illness or injury — something that could save many seniors untold levels of difficulty while handling costly medical bills down the line!

Part D in Huntington Beach, CA

Medicare Part D is a type of supplemental insurance that helps cover prescription drugs for people with Medicare. It can help ensure you get the medication you need at an affordable cost.

Part D works by providing coverage for medications prescribed by your doctor. The prescription drugs are grouped into tiers based on their cost effectiveness, so the more expensive medications will require higher copays or deductibles before they're covered. Most plans will also have an annual deductible that must be met before coverage begins.

You can find many Part D plans in Huntington Beach, depending on what medications your doctor prescribes and your budget. Different plans include different benefits and costs such as deductibles, co-payments or coinsurance amounts, covered prescriptions drugs list (formulary), additional discounts such as generic drug prices at preferred pharmacies, etc.

To ensure that you're getting the best deal for your needs, work with an AHIP or NABIP certified insurance agent (one who knows Medicare)—be sure to compare all the details about each plan offered in your area so you can select the right one!

Once enrolled in Part D, it's important to update every year because these plans change regularly; changes often affect formularies, and pricing information like deductibles or copay amounts required may also change annually.

You can review the new year options through our member healthcare advisors, who can assist with understanding Medicare benefits during open enrollment periods (October 15th – December 7th) each year if needed.*

Medicare Advantage in Huntington Beach, CA

Medicare Advantage plans cover everything Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does, plus additional benefits like prescription drug coverage and sometimes even vision and dental care. They also typically have a lower out-of-pocket cost than traditional Medicare.

Huntington Beach has several companies offering Medicare Advantage plans with different levels of coverage. It is essential to take the time to research each one to make sure it is the right fit for your needs. Here are some things to consider when choosing a plan:

•     Cost - How much will you have to pay in premiums? Does the plan include copays or deductibles? Is there an out-of-pocket maximum that would protect you from unlimited medical expenses?

•     Coverage - What type of services are covered? Does it include prescription drugs, dental care, or vision services? Are doctor networks included in the plan allowing you access to network providers at discounted rates?

•     Network Restrictions - Does the company offer provider networks with doctors near your home or work? Do they accept your current primary care physician into their network if desired?

•     Preauthorization – Medicare Advantage Plans typically use "preauthorization" to control costs. If you don't want the insurance company to be able to tell you they won't cover a service that Medicare covers, then these plans might not be for you.

•     Customer Service – How do they handle customer service inquiries if something goes wrong with your health insurance claim or benefit request? Is customer service available 24/7 by phone, email, or chat support?

•     Additional Benefits – What other benefits does this plan offer beyond what Original Medicare covers? Are there any special rewards programs or discounts associated with joining specific plans?

Considering these questions can help ensure that you find an affordable and reliable option for your healthcare needs here in Huntington Beach. Shopping around is critical for finding a good value on health insurance – just be sure not to research too long, as many plans may change over time!

•     Plan N covers your medical expenses differently. You'll pay the Part B deductible, and then you'll pay $20 to see the doctor and $50 for an emergency room visit. You'll also have to pay any excess doctor fees (15% of the approved amount), and there is no cap on excess doctor fees.

•     Supplement Plans do not include extra benefits such as dental and vision.
